Me alegra comunicaros que el documental del taller en Argentina ha sido seleccionado para el "I Festival de Cine Solidario de Granada", del 11 al 15 de mayo; y será proyectado en la Sala Val del Omar de la Filmoteca de Andalucía, situada en la c./ Profesor Sainz Cantero, nº6 (Granada), el viernes 15 de mayo a las 22:00.

La entrada es libre hasta completar aforo... ¿quién se anima?...

I am happy to tell you that the documentary film about our workshop in Argentina has been selected by the "I Festival de Cine Solidario de Granada", from the 11 to 15 of May. It will be projected in the Sala Val del Omar of the "Filmoteca de Andalucía", on 6, Profesor Sainz Cantero Street, (Granada), on Friday the 15th of May at 10 pm.

La fotografía como medio para explorar la realidad que nos rodea y expresar las emociones que nos provoca.
“A través de la fotografía puedo mostrar a niños de otros países cómo vivimos y sentimos acá”, dice Stefi, una niña de 11 años, residente en Villa Cornú, barrio a las afueras de la ciudad de Córdoba (Argentina), quien fue miembro del taller de fotografía social que durante el mes de octubre impartí en El Vagón, nombre con el que se conoce al Centro Comunitario en el que se desarrollan todo tipo de talleres para niños con edades comprendidas entre 6 y 14 años.
El Vagón, http://www.elvagon.org.ar es también el nombre de la organización no gubernamental sin ánimo de lucro que, desde 1991, trabaja en este barrio marginal, desarrollando proyectos de educación no formal, con el fin de mejorar las condiciones de vida de sus habitantes más jóvenes. Con ayuda estatal e internacional (a través de entidades españolas, entre otras), el Centro Lúdico El Vagón trabaja con niños en edad escolar, cubriendo sus necesidades desde tres pilares fundamentales: la alimentación, ofreciéndoles una merienda reforzada que contribuye a paliar sus deficiencias alimentarias; el apoyo escolar, trabajando conjuntamente con la escuela del barrio; y el desarrollo de la creatividad a través del juego, por medio de talleres de teatro, manualidades y, en esta ocasión, de fotografía.

Photography as a means to explore our surrounding reality and to express the emotions which it evokes.

"Using photography I can show children of other countries how we live and what we feel here" says Stefi, an 11 year old girl who lives in Villa Cornú, a suburb of Córdoba (Argentina). Stefi was a member of the social photography workshop that I gave at El Vagón during the month of October. El Vagón is the name by which the Community Centre, which hosts all sorts of workshops for children between the ages of 6 and 14 years, is known.

El Vagón, http://www.elvagon.org.ar is also the name of a non- profit, non -governmental organization which, since 1991, works in this marginal suburb, developing projects in non -official education with a view to improving the living conditions of its youngest inhabitants. With state and international support (from Spanish institutions, among others) the Centro Lúdico El Vagón works with children of school age covering their needs in three main areas: Nourishment, offering them a stengthening meal which helps to mitigate their nutritional deficiencies; educational help, working jointly with the local school, and the development of creativity, through games, theatre workshops, crafts, and, in this case, photography.

Mi experiencia en Villa Cornú ha sido más un aprendizaje humano que docente. Las condiciones desfavorables en las que viven algunos de esos chicos no son un impedimento para sus ganas de aprender y de mostrar al mundo quiénes son, cómo viven, qué sienten... y la cámara fotográfica fue el instrumento ideal con el que expresar todas sus vivencias y ayudarles a reflexionar sobre la sociedad que les rodea, de una forma creativa e integradora.

I have experienced my stay at Villa Cornú more as an enriching human experience than as a teaching assignment. The unfavorable conditions in which some of these children live are not a hindrance for their desire to learn and to show the world who they are, how they live, and what they feel...and the camera is an ideal instrument with which to express all their experiences, helping them to reflect on their surrounding society in a creative and integrating manner.

Vecinos posan con los alumnos/Neighbours pose with the participants En el taller de fotografía, además del aprendizaje técnico del funcionamiento de la cámara fotográfica y del revelado de fotografías en blanco y negro de manera tradicional, se realizan fotomaratones para potenciar su creatividad, estimular su autoestima y sus relaciones con el entorno.El resultado es una educación en valores que lleve a tomar conciencia de las desigualdades sociales desde la construcción de una personalidad crítica, tolerante, solidaria e igualitaria.

In the photography workshop, in addition to learning about the technical functioning of the camera and the process of development of black and white photography in the traditional manner, "photo-marathons" are scheduled to boost their creativity, stimulate their self-esteem and interaction with their surroundings. The result is an education in values with the goal of attaining an awareness of social disparity from the perspective of a personality built upon inquiry, tolerance, solidarity and egalitarianism.
